San Diego Musts for Families

San Diego

Over 32 million people visit San Diego each year and it is easy to see why. The amazing weather, gorgeous beaches, excellent dining, and overabundance of entertainment make this city a top tourist destination from around the world. Growing up, my family would come to San Diego at least a few times every year. Now that I live only an hour away, my own little family gets to go and play there often. I love seeing my kids creating many of the same memories I did as a kid and we have also discovered many new adventures over the years. Today I would like to share with you some of our family’s favorite things to do in the […]

Family Fun in the Valley of the Sun

Valley of the Sun

Do you ever just want to pack up your family and leave behind all obligations for fun adventures and quality time together? I almost didn’t make it to our spring break but it finally came and it was exactly the escape I needed! No school, games, practices, meetings, scouts, etc! Our family headed back to our native land of Arizona for spring break. I had big plans for this trip to Az. My husband, Matt, usually only gets to join us on trips to Arizona when we go for holidays or family events. But this trip was our’s to plan and he was coming, so I wanted to pack in as much fun as possible. Although it […]

On My Mind Monday: Seattle

I hope you all had a nice weekend! We spent the last several days visiting Devin’s family in Washington. His youngest sister had a baby girl a few weeks ago, so we snuggled that little one as much as we could. And although the sun had shined in Seattle only nine days since October (!!!), we actually saw sunshine two and a half of the five days we were there! I like to think we brought the sun with us. 🙂 Here are a few snapshots from our time in the Pacific Northwest. Now we are flying back home to the sunshine, hoping that the 70’s and 80’s stick around for at least another month! […]

Tips for Flying with Young Kids

Our trip to Oregon was so dreamy! We packed a lot into three days and definitely want to go back to do a few things we weren’t able to this time. We had one full day of sunshine, and we took advantage of it! We visited the Tillamook Cheese Factory, ate lunch on the beach, and drove along the coast, stopping to explore several beaches and viewpoints. The next (not so sunny) day we ventured up to Astoria, climbed the Astoria Column, and ate some amazing fish and chips at Bowpicker. On our way to the airport, we stopped at Multnomah Falls, which was a beautiful way to end our trip. My favorite […]

Keeping Kids Entertained in the Car on Road Trips

We do our fair share of road trips in this family. Not across the country, thankfully, but at least five or six times a year we trek across the desert from Southern California to Arizona, where most of our extended family live.  As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have very busy kids and even though the drive is only about 5 1/2 -6 hours, it can sometimes feel like torture. I am grateful for a DVD player, because it does help break up some of the trip. But even with a movie playing I still frequently hear phrases like,”How much longer?” or the kids start “touching” each other and fight because they are board. […]
